Dress and Skirt

  • Custom Women’s Ribbed Knit Long-Sleeve Maxi Dress

HDL Garment produces custom women’s sweater dresses and skirts for fashion brands, private label programs, and online retailers, working from your sketches, tech packs, or reference samples. Dresses and skirts sit alongside our women’s pullovers, cardigans, and knit sets, so a dress can be developed as part of a coordinated range rather than as a standalone item.

A knit dress is not a woven dress, and the construction decisions come earlier. A bodycon sweater dress depends on how the knit recovers across the body, so the rib or stitch structure is chosen for the shape rather than for the surface alone. An A-line sweater dress relies on the way the garment widens from the shoulder or the waist, which is a knitting decision rather than a cutting decision. A hooded sweater dress and a long-sleeve maxi dress put more weight into the garment, so the shoulder line and the way the hem hangs become the main approval points.

Skirts follow the same logic. A ribbed knit skirt, a midi skirt, or a skirt designed to match a top all depend on how the waistband is finished and whether the knit is worked in a direction that keeps the hem level. When a skirt is developed as part of a set, the yarn and color have to be shared with the top so the two pieces read as one look, while still working as separate items on a store display.

The dress styles in our current range include a ribbed knit long-sleeve maxi sweater dress and two-piece knit dress sets. Knit skirts are currently listed as part of coordinated sets. Cable knit and rib give a dress surface interest without added color work. Where a dress carries a jacquard or intarsia motif, the motif placement has to be agreed against the pattern pieces, because a knit motif cannot be repositioned the way a print can.

Sizing for knit dresses and skirts is developed from your size chart. Because knit garments change dimension when they relax, we work from finished measurements rather than nominal labels, and confirm the tolerances for the key points, including the length and the hem level, before bulk.

Color is open. Any color from your palette can be developed, and the colors shown in our product photos are working references only, not a fixed range. Material options are confirmed according to the design and target hand feel. MOQ is confirmed after reviewing the yarn, color, craftsmanship and order requirements. Custom sizes are available based on the buyer’s size chart. Sampling and production schedules are confirmed after all design details are approved.

Our custom women’s sweaters cover the full range of dresses, skirts, pullovers, cardigans, and sets, and the women’s knit sets page shows how a dress or skirt can be developed as part of a coordinated look. If your program also includes other knit categories, the custom sweater manufacturing services page explains how pattern development, yarn sourcing, and private label finishing are organized.
